The Clinical Trade-Offs
Zirconia is the premium final: rigid, stain-proof, and engineered to last decades under full chewing force. That rigidity is also its catch — because it does not flex, the fit must be essentially perfect, which demands precise digital scanning and skilled laboratory work. Acrylic is more forgiving and lighter, which is exactly why it dominates temporary prostheses — but as a long-term final it wears, stains, and usually needs replacement or reline within a few years.

The most common recommendation is a hybrid path: an acrylic temporary while implants heal (months 0–6), then a zirconia final once the bite settles.
